The New York Islanders teamed up with the New York Blood Center to host a blood drive at UBS Arena.
The blood center says donations are low during the summer months while the need for blood still remains high.
"Some of our blood types, we were down to a one to two-day supply," said Yavira Navarro, from the blood center. "A healthy supply is about seven days, so one to two days means hospitals really will postpone elective surgeries. We just want to make sure there's enough blood on the shelves for those that need it."
Everyone who donated Monday walked away with two free tickets to a game this coming season.
