One of the men accused of raping and kidnapping a Patchogue teenager has died while in custody, officials say.
The Suffolk sheriff's office says Daniel Burke had a medical incident at the county jail last month.
The office says the 65-year-old from Bohemia died at the hospital shortly after he was transferred there on July 28.
Burke was one of three men facing a potential life sentence in connection with the 14-year-old girl's disappearance in Dec. 2024.
Six others are charged in the case.
