Police say a 25-year-old woman is recovering in the hospital after she was shot in the stomach in front of a Belmont building Thursday night.

Investigators say officers responded to a call of a shooting at 2309 Crotona Ave. at around 10:34 p.m.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound in the stomach. She was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital by EMS in stable condition.

On Friday, bullet holes could be seen on the window of the first-floor apartment at the Belmont building.

Carolina says she was inside the home with her daughter, when the shots flew into her living room.

"It sounded like explosions going off," she said in Spanish.

Police sources tell News 12 they are on the hunt for three men behind the attack. They say the shooting stemmed from an argument that quickly turned violent.

As the shooters remain on the loose, the buildings super says security cameras that point directly at the crime scene haven't been working in over a month.

The group of men were last seen running down Crotona Avenue after firing those bullets.

If you have any information that can help police, call the Crime Stoppers Hotline.
