A Huntington man is accused of pointing a loaded gun at another driver during a road rage confrontation in Melville, according to Suffolk County police.

Prosecutors said Gary Donnelly, 45, of Huntington, was involved in two separate road rage incidents Thursday afternoon along Express Drive South.

Authorities allege Donnelly drove his van erratically and engaged in a conflict with a 26-year-old Freeport man. Prosecutors said Donnelly deliberately swerved toward the victim's SUV and repeatedly slammed on his brakes.

The situation escalated at the intersection of Route 110 and Spagnoli Road, where police said the Freeport man exited his vehicle and approached Donnelly.

According to investigators, Donnelly then pointed a gun at the man, who backed away. Donnelly allegedly drove off and officers later tracked him to his Huntington home.

Police said they arrested Donnelly at the residence and recovered a loaded firearm.

Donnelly was arraigned on multiple charges, including menacing, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A judge set bail at $50,000 cash and issued two stay-away orders of protection.
