A Nassau County school district is assessing damage after a Jeep crashed through the front of an elementary school on Sunday.

This morning, a massive part of North Side Elementary School in East Williston is boarded up.

Nassau County police said a 77-year-old man driving the SUV suffered a medical emergency, which caused the vehicle to leave the road and plunge into the building at 110 East Williston Ave. around 6:15 p.m.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Video and pictures from the scene show the car fully into what appears to be the library, with books scattered about.

The East Williston School District said in a statement: "The East Williston Union Free School District can confirm that there was an accident at North Side School. Thank you to Nassau County Police for their help. At this time, the district is assessing any impact to school property. We hope everyone involved in the accident is safe. The district does not have any additional information at this time.”

The East Williston Fire Department deemed the building safe.
