Over the weekend, the 6th Precinct Community Support Unit went around to several locations as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.

Five e-dirt bikes were seized and impounded in three different places, according to police.

The electric vehicles were found in the areas of Boyle Rd. in Selden, Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai and Middle Country Rd. in Selden.

Suffolk County passed new rules in April, imposing age restrictions and fines, and impounding them for those who ride recklessly.

The new law allows police to seize the bikes entirely for riders who don't follow the rules.

Suffolk police say they continue to take illegal e-bike operation very seriously to ensure community safety.
