A 76-year-old man was fatally struck by a car Friday morning in Hempstead, according to police.
Authorities say the vehicle hit James Johnson at the intersection Jerusalem Avenue and Henry Street around 11 a.m.
The driver, 47-year-old woman, remained at the scene of the crash.
Police say Johnson suffered severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
