Uniondale school district bus aide arrested, accused of abusing special needs students

The abuse allegedly included pushing, slamming, restraining and sitting on students.

A Uniondale school district bus aide has been arrested for allegedly physically and verbally abusing special needs students who attend the Grand Avenue School.

Nassau police say Devone Medlock, 37, of Amityville, exhibited violent behavior to multiple students with special needs while on the bus. This included pushing, slamming, restraining and sitting on students.

Medlock works for the First Student bus company and was arraigned today at the First District Court in Hempstead.

First Student gave News 12 the following statement:

"At First Student, we take our responsibility to provide a safe environment for students on our school buses very seriously. The behavior captured in the video is unacceptable and is not tolerated. The driver is no longer employed by First Student."

He as charged with assault, menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child.
