Drivers in Suffolk County say dodging potholes has become part of their daily commute.

Station Road from Medford to Bellport Village is riddled with cracks and deep potholes, according to drivers who describe the stretch as an obstacle course.

“Your car just falls into it and it ain’t any better any place else,” Medford resident Victor DiFrisco said.

DiFrisco says the issue is not just frustrating but dangerous.

News 12 has also reported on pothole concerns along Middle Country Road in Selden, where drivers say damage and frustration continue to grow.

Rich Sayres, of MTA Auto Service, says he sees the impact firsthand at his Holbrook repair shop.

“What we see now are a lot of bent rims," Sayres said. "Tires get blown out. Depending on how bad you hit the pothole, sometimes you could do some suspension damage."

Along Route 112 near Towne Woods Road, some drivers swerve to avoid potholes while others drive directly over them.

DiFrisco says he has contacted the Town of Brookhaven multiple times about Station Road but has not received a response.

“Their expression is, ‘We don’t know about it,’ but you call them up three times, they know about it. Why aren’t you fixing it?” he said.

A spokesperson for the Town of Brookhaven Highway Department says the department has not received reports from police, public safety officials or the local council district specific to Station Road, adding that as weather conditions improve, pothole repairs will continue.

The New York State Department of Transportation tells news 12 that “the safety of the traveling public is always our top priority,” adding that crews are working to address potholes on state roads, including Route 112.
