Fairfield police say a person was found dead following an investigation on Longdean Road.

Residents had been asked to remain indoors and avoid the area on Monday as police investigated. The shelter in place has since been lifted.

Police said they initially received a call around 3 p.m. requesting a welfare check after a person did not show up to work.

Upon arrival at the property, officers located a note that indicated the person could be found in the garage.

Officials said they heard shots fired and located a deceased person inside the garage.

The identity of the person has not been released yet.
