A Suffolk lawmaker has introduced a bill in response to a deadly stabbing at a CVS last December.
The proposed law would require businesses to hand over surveillance video to police within 24 hours of a felony incident.
Legislator Jason Richberg , of West Babylon, is sponsoring the bill after CVS employee Edeedson “Joshy" Cine Jr., 23, was killed during a botched robbery at the Lindenhurst store on Christmas Day.
Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina accused the company of obstructing the investigation by delaying access to the footage of the crime.
As News 12 has reported, similar legislation is already making its way through the state Assembly after being introduced by Assemblyman Kwani B. O'Pharrow in January.
The county resolution is up for public comments at the legislature's next general meeting on May 12 in Riverhead.
