An 85-year-old man died after being hit by a car while he crossed a street Thursday night in Manhasset.

Police say the pedestrian was crossing Plandome Road at around 5:30 p.m. when a car driving south struck him.

The 79-year-old driver stayed at the scene and no one else was hurt, according to authorities.
