A World War II vet is fighting to get his cornet returned after it was taken away following his arrest.

William Thomas Jr., 88, was arrested on Election Day after police received a complaint from a neighbor about him playing 'Taps' on his cornet. Thomas was charged with harassment and violating an order of protection. He admits what happened is the result of a long standing feud with a neighbor.

The judge dismissed the case against Thomas, but police still have not returned his cornet. 

Thomas says he plays 'Taps' several times a day to honor those lost in the war. He says he doesn't know why he can't play his song. The neighbor who filed the complaint says Thomas intentionally blew the horn as retaliation and she doesn't want him to get it back.

Neighbors say the issue with Thomas started years ago when they first complained he was trapping animals in his backyard. Thomas was sentenced in 2010 for shooting a squirrel with a BB gun.

Thomas' daughter acknowledges that incident and says her father learned his lesson. She says she just wants her father to get his instrument back because it helps with his dementia.
