Lt. Anne Santacroce enlisted with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps to care for soldiers during World War II. This Veterans Day, the Sag Harbor native told her story to News 12 Long Island.
Santacroce, now 89, joined up when she was 22 and helped treat battle wounds suffered by soldiers during the Battle of the Bulge.
Santacroce kept her war stories quiet for decades, but says she's now sharing them as a tribute to those who served and are not here to tell their stories.
