Police say a 22-year-old woman has been arrested in the death of a 28-year-old man in Massapequa.
Police say Kristin Sculley, of Massapequa, has been charged with murder in the second degree. Sculley was arraigned in Hempstead this morning.
Friends have identified the victim as Bobby Carragher.
More details about the crime were released at a press conference held by Nassau County Det. Lt. George Darienzo on Tuesday.
Officers responded to a 1:30 a.m. aided call and arrived to find the victim collapsed on the kitchen floor, suffering from a severe stab wound to the neck.
Investigators say the violence began downstairs, where the man had been sleeping in his bedroom. Authorities allege Sculley, angry with the victim, stabbed him in the neck while he was still sleeping.
Gravely wounded, he managed to climb upstairs, screaming for his mother's help.
His parents rushed to his aid inside their Beaumont Avenue home, desperately trying to stop the bleeding in the kitchen. Despite their efforts, the man became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
“He died in his father’s arms,” Darienzo said, "no family should ever have to bear witness to their son being killed in that manner."
Police say Sculley stayed inside the house after the attack, hiding in the lower level. She was taken into custody at the scene, still in possession of a pocket knife believed to be the murder weapon.
Authorities say the victim and Sculley had a friendship and had known each other for years.
She has no prior criminal record.
While investigators said there is some evidence of drug use, no substances were recovered at the scene.
