The Freeport woman accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway Sunday went before a judge Monday.
Police say 26-year-old Nicole Pollock rear-ended a car driven by Lissette Quintanilla, 39, of South Hempstead. Police say Pollock was going about 100 mph when the accident happened near Exit M7. Quintanilla's car careened off the roadway and slammed into a tree.
Police say Quintanilla was killed and her 8-year-old son was rushed to the hospital. He suffered a broken arm.
Prosecutors say Pollock tried to walk away from the scene while police were trying to help the victims. Prosecutors say she also fought with police and even tried to slip out of her handcuffs.
Pollock was arraigned on vehicular manslaughter charges, DWI and assault charges. The judge called Pollock a flight risk and ordered her held in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
