A driver was killed in a head-on collision in Suffolk County Wednesday afternoon.

Suffolk Police Seventh Squad officers responded to investigate the crash around 1:30 p.m. on Rocky Point-Yaphank Road near Industrial Way in Rocky Point.

David Maiman, 44, of Middle Island, was operating a 2020 Lexus northbound when he veered into the southbound lane, according to detectives.

Maiman’s vehicle subsequently struck the front of a 2020 Jeep, which was being driven by Ferdi Reyes Garcia, 45, of Port Jefferson.

Both drivers were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where Maiman was pronounced dead by a physician, police say.

Reyes Garcia suffered only minor injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
