Police say a woman fought off an attempted carjacker in Lawrence Tuesday while her 3-year-old daughter sat in the back seat.
According to police, the male robber followed the would-be victim from a PETCO where she was shopping to the parking lot. They say he forced his way into the car and demanded money. Instead of giving in, investigators say the mother yelled, struggled and pushed her attacker out of the vehicle. She then drove after him, chasing the bandit behind the store before he got away.
Although both the mother and daughter were unharmed, police officials recommend giving robbers what they want rather than fighting back. They also say to return to the store and call police immediately if it seems someone is following you.
The attacker remains on the loose.
