A Wheatley Heights man is facing a slew of new charges stemming from a fatal crash in Melville two years ago.
Carla Vanessa Flores, 19, died in the November 2014 crash after the car she was riding in sped out of control on Colonial Springs Road and slammed into a tree.
Brandon Charles, 20, pleaded guilty last year to manslaughter and recklessly driving the car. He was sentenced to three to nine years in prison. That sentence was later vacated, and Charles was allowed to withdraw his plea.
Charles faced a new indictment on several charges including manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, DWI, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
At the scene of the crash, authorities say neither Charles nor the owner of the car would say who was driving during the incident. Police say evidence collected at the scene put Charles in the driver's seat.
Charles was freed on $100,000 bail. He is due back in court on Dec. 8.
