Chef Giovanni Farruggio, of Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, shows News 12's Lily Stolzberg how to make Philly cheese steak.
Ingredients:
1 lb rare roast beef (sliced thin)
¼ lb provolone (sliced thin)
¼ lb yellow American cheese (sliced thin)
1 ea Spanish onion (sliced thin)
4 oz beef broth
1 French baguette
2 tbs oil
3 sheets of parchment paper
Directions:
Using a sauté pan heat oil.
Once oil is hot, add the sliced onion and caramelize.
Once onions are caramelized add the roast beef ad sauté for one minute.
Layer the provolone on top of the roast beef mixture.
Add the beef broth and stir until all the cheese is melted.
Once all the cheese is melted, remove from heat and set aside.
Cut the baguette into three equal sections.
Cut each section lengthwise, being careful not to cut through, creating a pocket.
Layer 3-4 slices of yellow American cheese in each pocket.
Fill each section with an equal amount of meat mixture.
Once all three sections are complete, lay your parchment paper on a flat surface and begin to wrap each section tightly.
Cut in half and enjoy.
