A flash flood watch is in effect for Nassau County until 6 a.m. Saturday.
News 12 Long Island Meteorologist Samantha Augeri says showers and storms will increase in coverage area and intensity this evening into overnight. Rain totals are expected to reach 1 to 3 inches with possible street flooding.
Minor coastal flooding is possible along the South Shore at high tide.
Saturday will bring a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon, with highs near 72 degrees.
