A winter storm dumped several inches of wet, heavy snow across Long Island Friday.
News 12 meteorologists say about 5 to 12 inches of snow fell across most of Long Island. The snowfall tapered off from west to east this afternoon.
Drivers are urged to be cautious on the roads tonight and into Saturday morning, as overnight temperatures below freezing will create icy conditions.
The weekend will see mostly sunny skies with highs in the low- to mid-40s. Monday will see increasing clouds with highs around 40 degrees.
The next chance for snow arrives Tuesday, when periods of snow and sleet are expected. The exact timing and track of that storm could change, so stay with News 12 for the latest forecast information.
