‘We want to see him expelled.’ Constituents host caravan to 'drive out' Rep. Santos
Dozens of Third District constituents decorated their cars and conducted a caravan route to rally against Rep. George Santos.
Participants say the goal was to send a message that it's time to “drive out” the embattled congressman.
The group visited five locations that they say revealed Santos-related scams and lies, including an animal hospital, the Lake Success Jewish center, a bank and the restaurant where his campaign spent $26,000.
“We don’t feel that…we have someone that we can go to who’s going to represent our needs and interests. So, we want to see him expelled and we want to see a special election for a new representative in our Congress,” says Alana Rosenstein, of Plainview.
“We think someone who is capable of scamming off of a dog and a homeless veteran is someone who should not be representing the people,” said resident Emily Raphael.
“Hopefully it will put pressure on [Majority Leader Kevin] McCarthy to actually bring this resolution to the floor for a vote so we can actually get rid of him,” said resident Susan Naftol.
The group ended the caravan at Santos’s district office in Douglaston, driving home the message that they want him gone.
“Everything he did before and everything he's continuing to do is just disgusting and despicable. We won’t stand for it, we're not going away,” said Jody Kassm, of Concerned Citizens NY-03.
