A study from
Global Workplace Analytics showed that both employers and employees could save thousands of dollars per year working remotely.
Here are some of the findings from the San Diego-based provider of research on agile work:
1. Employees have 78 minutes of daily interruption time in the office, compared to 43 minutes while working at home.
2. Employees spend 26 minutes of extra time working instead of commuting.
3. Employees' annual savings by working remotely an average of 2 1/2 days a week could be about $3,000.
4. Employers could save about $11,000 annually for the average U.S. worker who telecommutes half time. Employers' savings are based on factors including: increased productivity, reduced office costs, lower absenteeism, and reduced turnover.
