At least 40 suspected gang members have been arrested in Nassau County after a multi-night crackdown. News 12 has learned some of them were here illegally.

Officers seized a variety of drugs, weapons and cash during the arrests.

More details about the suspects and the arrests are expected to be presented at a news conference on Tuesday.

News 12 was the only local media invited for a ride along with police officers when they arrested one of the suspects.

Detectives say he is a Trinitarios gang member connected to an attempted murder. Officials say they found seven grams of cocaine and a firearm inside the man’s vehicle early this morning.

Detectives tell News 12 the latest suspect, who has not been identified, faces charges for a weapon and the intention to sell cocaine.
