Some residents in Smithtown finally have their water back after a main break left their faucets dry Wednesday morning.
It was a story you saw first on News 12 Long Island.
In addition to cutting off water to homes, the break also left a 20-foot crater in the middle of Iris Lane and Riviera Drive.
Affected residents say the break was especially inconvenient because it took place on a workday. One woman says her husband had to skip his shower before work. A mother broke out bottled water so her kids could brush their teeth.
There was also the nuisance of the road closure to deal with. In addition to inconveniences on Iris Lane and Riviera Drive, 25A was also shut down for a short time.
Crews patched up the road by rush hour.
