Family and friends prepared to say goodbye Wednesday to a 12-year-old Bronx girl who was swept away by the Niagra River.

The plane carrying the body of 12-year-old Magdalena Lubowska landed at JFK Airport Tuesday night, two weeks after the teen slipped on a mossy rock while on a nature hike and was swept away by the raging rapids. Her body was later discovered by Kayakers on the river.

Lubowska was sent on a two-week vacation to the Renaissance House summer camp, which is operated by Eva Hedges and her son.

The Lubowskis moved to New York from Poland two years ago to care for the girl?s grandmother.

The family?s attorney, Gus Michael Farinell, says that in the short time the teen spent in the Bronx, she grew to love the borough. She attended P.S. 360, where teachers say she was an excellent student and athlete, running on the school?s track team.

The girl?s parents say the first part of coming to terms with the tragedy has been accomplished by bringing their daughter back home. Now, they want to bring the people who they believe are responsible for the teen?s death to justice.

The wake for Lubowska will be held at the Farenga Funeral Home on Allerton Avenue Wednesday.
