Wake services were held Tuesday for the Farmingdale band director killed in Thursday’s bus rollover in Orange County.
A line of people stretched outside to pay their respects to Gina Pellettiere, who was known as Miss P by her students.
The school district’s superintendent said Pellettiere was a champion of the music program and impacted thousands of lives.
Many of her students were in attendance to mourn their teacher’s loss at the South Chapel of the Massapequa Funeral Home.
The high school will be closed in the Farmingdale district Thursday so people can attend Pellettiere’s funeral.
Loved ones also gathered for the second day of wake services for Beatrice Ferrari, who was known as the grandmother of the band.
Ferrari retired following more than 30 years as a history teacher but still served as a chaperone on school trips.
Ferrari’s funeral is set for Wednesday at Saint Kilian Church in Farmingdale.
