A North Bay Shore man is charged with sexual abuse for inappropriately touching at least two children, police said.

Bernardo Amaya, 75, inappropriately touched an 8-year-old girl in August, Suffolk Police said Tuesday.

Following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives, it was determined that Amaya had also touched a 4-year-old girl, now 22, in May and June 2007. He is believed to have come into contact with the victims at his home where a family member was a childcare worker, according to police.

Amaya is charged with sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

Representatives of Educational Bus could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday night.

Police say Amaya works at Saint Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Brentwood and is also a bus driver for Educational Bus Inc. in West Babylon. Police are asking anyone who believes they could have been a victim of Amaya's to contact the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6184.
