Suspect in 1974 Oceanside homicide case identified by DNA

Police announced during a press conference Wednesday that Thomas Generazio, of Oceanside, killed 31-year-old Barbara Waldman in 1974.

Nassau police have identified the suspect in the 1974 murder of a woman in her Oceanside home.

Police announced during a press conference on Wednesday that Thomas Generazio, of Oceanside, killed 31-year-old Barbara Waldman in 1974.

According to investigators, Generazio was identified using DNA. Generazio died of cancer at the age of 57 in 2004.

Waldman was found dead in her Oceanside home, lying face down with her hands bound behind her back. She had been strangled with her stockings.

The case had remained unsolved for 52 years.
