Volunteers at the Wading River Fire Department are teaming up with neighbors to battle hunger by the busload.
The Wading River Fire Department asks the community for donations of nonperishable food from Christmas to New Year’s every year. The department then fills up a  school bus with bags and boxes of food.
The food on the “Stuff-A-Bus” is delivered to seven different churches and food pantries across Suffolk County.

At Saint Anselm's Episcopal Church in Shoreham, where they feed anywhere from 10 to 25 people in need every week, those donations are welcomed, especially at this time of the year.

“In the winter months, January through March, we do not get much food at all,” says Barbara Lutz, of Saint Anselm’s Episcopal Church.
The Wading River Fire Department has been participating in the "Stuff-A-Bus" food drive for the past 20 years.
