Today offered a chance to give back to Long Island veterans.

A program called Vets Stand Down provides food, jackets and more to veterans who need them.

“When you thank them for their service, and they're telling you that they would go back tomorrow, it's just priceless," said P.C. Richard & Son's Joe Morrone.

"We give something to you guys," added veteran Fernando Medina. Medina spent 16 years in the Air Force. "That is our lives in different wars, stuff like that, and this is something we appreciate, and this is you guys giving thanks to us."

Vets Stand Down has been going on for decades, with the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency holding a similar event in the summer.
