Nassau police were on the lookout Thursday for vandals who smashed pumpkins over several cars.
According to police, at least seven cars were hit by large pumpkins during the evening and overnight hours Wednesday in North Merrick, Baldwin and Freeport. Investigators say cars' trunks, taillights, windshields, windows and other parts were damaged to the tune of thousands of dollars. Police believe vandals sped by in a car, while the passenger tossed the pumpkins out the window at the parked cars.
Police report nobody witnessed any of the incidents and they have not made any arrests. They say no one was injured.
