The United States Postal Service is talking about making major cutbacks which would mean slower delivery times and job losses.
Officials say first-class mail will no longer be next day delivery. Instead, it would take three days or more.
In addition, more than 250 mail processing facilities across the country are being targeted for shutdown.
The shutdown includes centers on Long Island in Garden City, Melville and Bethpage.
In total, about 28,000 jobs nationwide are expected to be cut.
