Stony Brook University Hospital has been recognized as a 2025-26 Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, ranking in the top 10 in the state. SBUH climbed to a No. 10 ranking overall in New York state out of more than 203 hospitals statewide, up from No. 12 in the state last year.
SBUH also rated high performing in six adult specialties nationwide, including gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology.
Of the more than 4,400 hospitals analyzed, only 96 have 6 or more High Performing or ranked adult specialties. In New York State, just 14 hospitals have six or more high performing or ranked adult specialties.
