The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has upheld the convictions of former Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota and his top aide Christopher McPartland on Friday.
Spota and McPartland were convicted in December 2019 for corruption charges stemming from their help in a coverup of the beating of a suspect by police in 2012.
The person who beat the suspect was former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke. Burke pleaded guilty to federal charges and served over three years behind bars.
Rangers say he solicited one of them for sex and exposed himself.
The former police chief goes back to court on Sept. 11.
