Uniondale School District received a cache of musical instruments donated by the public through Barry Manilow's organization, The Manilow Music Project.
The nonprofit group highlights the importance of music programs in schools and donates instruments to programs in need. The organization selected Uniondale to receive about 80 instruments.
Kelvin Jenkins, of Uniondale School District, says the instruments will be put to good use.
"Our district supports the arts in a huge way," said Jenkins.
The instruments were collected during a Barry Manilow concert held last week at the Nassau Coliseum.
As part of the Manilow Music Project, the artist gave away two tickets to his concert for every instrument that was donated.
Manilow himself personally donated a Yamaha keyboard to the effort.
