News 12 got a firsthand look at some of the strange and scary items collected by TSA agents at JFK International Airport.
TSA agents say they collected 4 tons worth of prohibited items every year at the airport.
According to airport security, items collected each day include hatchets, swords, knives disguised as toys, ammunition, weights, replica guns and replica grenades.
TSA agents want to remind travelers during the holiday season that these items slow down the security checkpoints at the airport. Their advice is to leave dangerous items at home.
Anyone who would like to search which items are allowed on an airplane can download the "My TSA" app.
