A homeless man walking his dog was run over by a truck and killed Friday in Hempstead.
The tragic accident occurred behind the Home Depot on Front Street. Hempstead Village police say the driver didn't see the man as he was backing up and ran over him.
Investigators did not release the identity of the victim as they are trying to contact his family.
