The search is on for a driver who hit a police officer in Syosset and drove away.

The incident happened when the highway patrol officer was outside his cruiser on the Long Island Expressway South Service Road yesterday morning.

News 12 has learned that the officer was conducting some kind of investigation when a truck carrying pipes hit him. The truck driver continued to drive on after the incident.

The officer has injuries to his head, neck and back, but is expected to be OK.
