Suffolk County residents breathed a sigh of relief Thursday after Tropical Storm Beryl passed without causing much damage.
The eastern part of the county stood to take the brunt of Beryl, but minor coastal flooding and moderate erosion were the most serious results of the storm. Park and beach officials said they were monitoring the storm, but were not too worried. Rough seas and 5- to 8-foot waves were also reported.
Suffolk Emergency Management officials say they will stick around until 9 a.m. Friday as a precautionary measure.
