Hempstead mother says 5-year-old daughter was dropped off at wrong bus stop and walked home alone

A Hempstead mother says her 5-year-old daughter was dropped off at the wrong location by her school bus and had to walk home alone.
"That was careless and heartless of them to just leave my five year old daughter there by herself," says Lattimer.
Ni-Ima Lattimer's daughter, Ka'Mylah, attends Roosevelt Children's Academy and Charter School .
Lattimer says the bus is supposed to pick her up and drop her off at a daycare located about a block away and across the street from their Hempstead home.
However, on Tuesday, Lattimer says the bus dropped her daughter off at the wrong location, forcing the child to walk home on her own.
"No parent was there to retrieve her. No adult. No phone calls made," says Lattimer.
Lattimer said she was not supposed to be home at the time because she had a doctor's appointment.
"Thank God, I canceled because there would have been nobody home to let my daughter in the house," she said.
The location where Ka'Mylah was dropped off is about a five-minute walk from her home, according to Lattimer. She said the route includes busy streets and raised concerns about what could have happened to her daughter.
"Anybody could have snatched her up. Anybody could have harmed her," says Lattimer.
The bus company, First Student Inc., said drivers are supposed to release kindergarten students to a designated caregiver.
First Student said the driver involved has been removed from service within the district and is receiving additional training on routes and stops. The company said strong disciplinary action is being taken.
Lattimer says her daughter remains shaken by the experience and that she is looking for answers.
"I have to kind of prep her like don't worry," says Lattimer
