Police have launched an investigation after discovering a dead body off the Southern State Parkway.
An off-duty state trooper discovered a laundry bag stuffed with human remains Wednesday at the Merrick Avenue exit ramp.
"What it appears is that there is a human body in an advanced state of decomposition, we don't know it it's a male or female at this time," says Maj. Walter Heesh, of the New York State Police.
Another body was found in a suitcase along the parkway less than two weeks ago. The body in that incident was dismembered, however, not decomposed.
