A section of the Sunrise Highway was closed for hours this morning near exit 56 and Station Road due to a tractor-trailer fire.

A section of the Sunrise Highway was closed for hours this morning near exit 56 and Station Road due to a tractor-trailer fire.

Police confirmed that the back of the tractor-trailer caught fire shortly after getting a flat tire around 5:30 a.m.

Officials say that when officers arrived, they found the vehicle fully engulfed and debris on the highway. The Bellport Fire Department responded to the scene.
No one was injured.
