Town of Huntington steps up patrols at Heckscher Park following vandalism incidents

Town Supervisor Ed Smyth says porta potties that were temporarily put up were also vandalized.

The Town of Huntington is stepping up patrols after several incidents of vandalism at Heckscher Park.
The move comes two weeks after a group of teenagers allegedly vandalized the bathrooms at the park.
Town Supervisor Ed Smyth says porta potties that were temporarily put up were also vandalized.
The town is asking for residents’ help keeping the parks clean and functional by joining its Park Steward Program.
Law enforcement is reviewing footage of the incidents.
The bathrooms are now back up and running.
