Residents of the Throggs Neck Addition face a critical decision about the future of their housing development.
NYCHA is offering three options: stay with traditional Section 9 housing, join the Public Housing Preservation Trust that would unlock federal funding for renovations or opt into the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program, which brings in third-party partners for repairs.
Both programs would transition the development to Section 8 funding.
Residents will vote on these options between March 18 and April 16. Many are eager for improvements, with some expressing optimism about the opportunity for change.
