Long Island Buffalo Wing Festival
Sunday, August 25 from noon until 7 p.m.
On Sunday at high noon, 16 local pubs will gather at the Nutty Irishman in Bay Shore to celebrate the specialty and start a new tradition at the inaugural Long Island Buffalo Wing Festival.
For $20 a ticket, tasters can sample wings from different establishments, while listening to live music by BigBandJoe and Czech Funk. A dunk tank and a mechanical bull add to the festivities; proceeds will go to Long Island Cares, a nonprofit group that fights hunger on the Island.
5k/ 1mile Fun Run For Sarcoidosis Awareness
Saturday, August 24 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Activities on race day, 5K Race, one-mile walk, sports memorabilia auction, food and refreshments, entertainment, walk starts at 9 p.m., meet behind pub.
Coney Island and Jones Beach: Empires by the Sea

Exploring the history of these two seaside playgrounds; artifacts include historic beachwear, amusement park artifacts, rare photographs, paintings, prints and archival film clips.
