It costs a lot to be a college student, but News 12 is giving you the real deal on how to save.

According to Investopedia, college students can expect to spend between $900 to $1,000 on the "extras." That includes electronics, dorm furnishings, clothing, and food, all aside from tuition.

News 12 went behind the scenes at an Amazon facility to see how students can save. Smitha Rao, an Amazon spokesperson, says right now they are offering a half price prime membership for people between 18 and 24.

When you are shopping on Amazon there is a whole section dedicated to college students featuring extra savings. Students can also make "wish lists" to send to family members so they get exactly what they want.
