The Download: Manta5 EX1
Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and many people will be heading to the beach for relaxation or even exercise. But what if you could exercise on top of the water?
The Manta5 EX1 is the world's first hydrofoil bike. When under water, the high tech foils, or wings, lift the bike out of the water after you start pedaling.
The bike can go up to speeds of 13 mph. To get to that speed the pedals are attached to a small propeller which has an electric assist engine. You have to pedal to keep it going, but you can dial up and down the amount of assist, so aside from being fun it can also be a workout.
And even though it looks difficult to ride, the company says its a snap to learn and can be launched from almost anywhere.
