The Celebrity Edge becomes first large cruise ship to set sail in over 15 months

  • Mobile World Congress is making its return to Barcelona Monday. The annual telecoms industry event was one of the first canceled in February 2020 due to the pandemic. MWC Barcelona is the first big technology conference in Europe since the pandemic began and will run through July 1. Around 30,000 to 40,000 people are expected to attend, which is less than the more than 100,000 who attended in 2019. A negative COVID-19 test, along with a facemask and a digital badge are required for entry.
  • The first Apple TV Plus subscribers will see their free trials end after 21 months starting in July. Apple first gifted anyone who bought an Apple product one free year of Apple TV Plus and added two extensions during the pandemic. More than half the subscribers are on the free trial and will now have to pay a $4.99 subscription free per month. Apple will also no longer provide a free year of Apple TV Plus, and instead will offer a three-month trial.
  • The Celebrity Edge became the first large cruise ship to sail out of the United States in over 15 months. The ship took off from Fort Lauderdale, FL on Saturday. The seven-day cruise is sailing at 40% capacity to allow for social distancing. Parts of the ship are set aside for those who are not vaccinated.
